Students of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia has initially formed a 25 member committee to start a movement for the Islamic University Central Students Union (ICSU) roadmap. After successful movement by BRUR students regarding the central students union, IU students also wanted a clear roadmap for ICSU from the administration.
Regarding this, all the stakeholders of active cultural and political organizations including students, sat for two consecutive days and formed an initial committee on Saturday at the TSCC corridor. The newly formed committee includes stakeholders of the all active cultural and political organizations of the campus. They will further announce the roadmap for the ICSU movement, sources said.
During the view exchange programme, Chatradol IU unit Convenor, Sahed Ahammed, Chatra Shibir president, Mahmudul Hasan, former SAD coordinator SM Sweet, Chhatra Union Secretary Ahmad Galib, Islami Chhatra Andolan president Ismail Hossain Rahat, Khelafat Chhatra Majlis president, Sadek Ahmed were present there with the students.
Meanwhile, Students discussed the participation of regular students in ICSU, Punishment for Sajid’s murder, Punishment to teachers and officials who played opposing roles in July-August movement, Proper student safety and inclusion of minorities in ICSU.
The acting Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr M Yeaqub Ali said, “To form ICSU, all the parties must stay united under one platform. If students remain consistent in this demand, then there will be no obstacle to forming ICSU.”
As the authorities of the administration, we will do everything for this formation, he added
Though, Islamic University act 1980 doesn’t explicitly provide for a student union, students want ICSU to be executed anyhow.
