Bangladesh Vice-Captain Taskin Ahmed urged everyone not to dwell on the negative side only after their recent performance in the T20 World Cup.
Bangladesh’s World Cup team returned to the country on Friday after completing their month-long international event in the USA and the West Indies.
The Tigers finished on the ‘Super-8’ stage without a win, losing to Australia, India, and Afghanistan. The defeat to Afghanistan marked one of the shaky incident in Bangladesh’s World Cup journey, as they missed a realistic chance of making the semifinals.
Speaking to the media at the airport, Taskin pleaded to have faith in the Tigers and urged everyone not to focus on the negative side only.
“We are improving gradually. From the start of our journey in Twenty20 cricket, our stats have not been good. It’s not fair to focus only on the negative side. We were already in the minus zone, but we have been giving our best,” said Taskin to the media.”You all are disappointed; it’s normal, but we will look to present victories in the future,” he added.
Taskin rued about the poor form of senior cricketers Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad, stating that their performance had impacted the team’s overall performance.
“The performance of two senior cricketers has affected our team. But off the field did not make an impact, because off the field they are good team men. By the grace of God, we were all together for 47 days,”
“All the players displayed excellent behavior. There were no issues off the field. It’s normal to encounter difficulties when key players are not performing well. I am optimistic that we will overcome these challenges and achieve success in the future,” he added.
