Four Islamist political parties have agreed to deepen their unity and cooperation ahead of the upcoming national election, aiming to enhance coordination among religious political forces in the country.
The consensus was reached at a high-level meeting held Friday morning at the central office of Islami Andolan Bangladesh in Paltan, Dhaka. The meeting was presided over by the party’s amir, Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, widely known as the Pir of Char Monai.
The other participating parties were Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, Khelafat Majlish, and Nezame Islam Party. Top leaders from all four parties attended the gathering and emphasized the need for sustained dialogue and intensified efforts to forge a unified electoral front.
Among the notable attendees were Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish amir Maulana Mamunul Haque, Khelafat Majlish secretary general Ahmad Abdul Qadir, Nezame Islam Party vice president Maulana Abdul Majed Athari, and secretary general Maulana Musa bin Izhar. Joint secretary general Maulana Ataullah Amin of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish was also present.
From Islami Andolan, the delegation included secretary general Principal Maulana Yunus Ahmad, presidium members Professor Ashraf Ali Akon and Professor Mahbubur Rahman, and joint secretary general Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman.
The leaders unanimously agreed to continue inter-party discussions among Islamists and to accelerate the unity process in preparation for the election. They also reaffirmed their commitment to what they called the trial of fascism and the implementation of fundamental reforms in the country’s political and administrative structure.
The gathering comes at a time when Islamist parties-traditionally fragmented-are seeking common ground to boost their collective electoral influence amid ongoing political uncertainty and shifting alliances in post-AL Bangladesh.
