Ishwardi’s Enamul, best jute grower in country

Enamul Haque of Sheikhpara village of Muladuli Union of Iswardi Upazila has been selected as the best jute farmer in the country by cultivating jute on 225 bighas of land in 2022.

Motivated by the desired profit and reward, this time he cultivated jute in 390 bighas of land.

On the National Jute Day last March, Ministry of Textiles and Jute awarded Enamul Haque as the best jute grower in the country.

About receiving the award of the best jute farmer in the country, he said, it is the best gift of my life.

This award has been given to me as inspiration for the development of agriculture including jute cultivation.

Talking to Enamul, it is known that in 2010, he first planted jute on 15 bigha land.

The jute plantation was gradually increased every year.

In 2022, he cultivated jute on 225 bigha land and won the award of the best farmer in the country.

He planted jute in 390 bigha of land this season.

Apart from this, they are cultivating various crops including mustard, shrimp, dal, lentil. Muladuli Union has agricultural farms under North Bengal Sugar Mills.

Now sugarcane is grown on 3 thousand 300 bighas of land.

Sometimes these lands are leased to local farmers to increase the fertility of the sugarcane land to cultivate other crops.

Enamul took this land on lease and cultivated jute and other crops.

In addition to the lease, farmer Enamul cultivated a few bighas of his own land.

17-18 thousand rupees are spent on land lease for each bigha of fertilizer, seeds, labour, and cultivation.
