‘Rupban’ and ‘Auto’ varieties of beans are popular in Muladuli area of Ishwardi. Due to good yield and high disease resistance, farmers have become interested in bean cultivation. Farmers have a smile of success as the price of early bean cultivation is much higher than the cost. Ishwardi’s Muladuli is an example of how bean cultivation can change the fate of people in the area. A wholesale market is set up at Muladuli for the sale of beans. Every day, truck loads of beans are going from these markets to different districts including the capital Dhaka. Beans are being sold wholesale at Tk 150 per kg.
Green bean vines are covered in purple flowers all over the fields in the Muladuli area. Meanwhile, light red beans are peeking out. It is named ‘ Rupban’ because of the beautiful beauty of its eye-catching vines, flowers and beans. And ‘Auto’ is a fast growing and high yielding variety. Early varieties of Rupban and auto beans have already started to emerge in the market. Good price is also available. Farmers believe that there will be a good yield of beans in the current season with healthy trees and abundant flowers.
