Representatives from the International Center for Popular Cooperation (IPAC) and Baobab visited the Go Green Center in Chuadanga’s Koshaghat area on January 22, to observe the agricultural initiatives led by WAVE Foundation. The IPAC and Baobab team expressed their optimism regarding the integrated agricultural activities under the Go Green Center, which promote environmentally friendly agricultural practices. They acknowledged the process initiated by WAVE Foundation as an effective model that could be implemented in other regions, taking into account local contexts.

The Go Green Center operates various projects, including crop demonstration plots, fish farming, and the breeding of Black Bengal goats and sheep, using easily accessible indigenous technologies and sustainable methods. Local farmers and livestock breeders have been inspired by these practices and are incorporating them into their own agricultural work. IPAC and Baobab pledged to support these efforts in advancing the activities further.

The delegation included IPAC’s Bioinput Team member and guest researcher at China Agricultural University, Professor Caroline Sequeira Gobide from the University of Brazil, IPAC’s Latin American coordinator Luiz Henrique Gomes de Moura, and Baobab’s board member Pramesh Pokhrel. WAVE Foundation’s founder and executive director, Mohsin Ali, welcomed the delegation, alongside other officials and staff members involved in the Go Green Center and agricultural transformation activities.

During their visit, the team toured the various facilities at the Go Green Center, including the Black Bengal goat breeding farm, crop demonstration plots, fish farming units, integrated agricultural units, sheep breeding farm, and seed storage. They showed keen interest in each of these areas, asking questions which were answered by WAVE officials. After the visit, WAVE’s executive director presented a token of appreciation to the representatives.

Earlier in the day, the delegation visited WAVE’s sheep farm in Baradi, Meherpur. Following the Go Green Center visit, they toured agricultural activities led by farmers in areas such as Purapara, Madna, and Parkrishnapur in Damurhuda, where they observed goat farming clusters, composting clusters, fruit production, duck value chain hubs, rice cultivation, and fish farming, and interacted with local farmers and breeders. They also met with members of the local agricultural forum in Shaikhdi.

Concluding the visit, the delegation praised WAVE Foundation’s timely and contextually relevant initiatives, aligning with local farmers’ needs and environmental sustainability. They suggested expanding these activities further and, upon returning, planned to discuss how IPAC and Baobab could contribute and apply learnings to other regions. IPAC and Baobab are Switzerland-based nonprofit organizations dedicated to advancing socially and environmentally sustainable agriculture through the provision of scientific and technological support to marginalized communities in less developed and developing countries in the Northern Hemisphere.
