Investors hell bent on BSEC chairman’s removal

Staff Reporter :

General investors in the stock market on Thursday urged Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, special assistant to the chief adviser, to remove Khondoker Rashed Maqsood from his position as chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).

During a views exchange meeting attended by both Anisuzzaman and Maqsood, investors held the BSEC chairman responsible for the ongoing volatility in the capital market.

They argued that his lack of effective leadership is undermining investor confidence and that his removal is essential to restore market stability.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Iqbal Hossain, chairman of the Bangladesh Capital Market Investors Association, said, “We have so far protested and demanded his resignation because he lacks the competence to lead the commission.

Today, we formally raised the issue with Anisuzzaman. Investor confidence will not return unless he is removed.”
