A Dhaka court on Monday placed Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President Hasanul Haq Inu on a four-day remand in a case filed over the death of Bahadur Hossain Monir 17, in the Gulshan area during the quota reform movement on July 19.

Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sharifur Rahman passed the order after Investigation Officer (IO) Abu Zafar Biswas, a Sub-Inspector of Detective Branch of Police, produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.

Before that, Inu was shown arrested in the case after the IO submitted an application in this regard.

In the Monday’s remand prayer, the IO said Inu along with others were directly involved with the killing. So, he needs to be remanded to find out the whereabouts of others responsible for the killing.

The defense submitted an application, seeking bail along with cancellation of the remand prayer on grounds that their client was implicated in the case just to harass him.

Upon hearing, the court turned down the defense plea and put him on remand for quizzing in connection with the killing.

According to the case statement, Bahadur Hossain got shot in Pragati Sarani area on July 19. He was rushed to a local hospital where the attending physicians declared him dead. On September 30, Abu Jafar, father of the victim, filed the murder case with Gulshan Police Station against ousted Prime Minister Hasina and 102 others.

Inu was arrested from a house in capital’s Uttara area on August 26.
In the same case, Commodore Monirul Islam, former Director (Border) of the National Security Intelligence (NSI), was shown arrested and placed on a three-day remand.
