With the theme “Ensure Environmental Information in the Digital Age”, International Right to Information Day is observed in Gangachara, Rangpur.
The event is organised on Sunday under the National Advancement for Governance and Rights Initiatives in Communities (NAGORIK Project), in association with the “AmraiPari” Alliance to End Domestic Violence and Social Equality for Effective Development (SEED).
To mark the day, a rally and a discussion meeting were held. Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) SajibulKarim attended as the chief guest on behalf of UpazilaNirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahmud HasanMridha.
The discussion, held at the Upazila Administration Hall Room, began with welcome remarks and a presentation on the significance of International Right to Information Day and an introduction to SEED by Project (SEED-Equips Project) Coordinator Abdul Jalil.
Project Officer (NAGORIK Project) FarzanaZaman outlined the goals, objectives, and activities of the NAGORIK Project.
Special guest speeches were delivered by journalist Abdul Bari Swapon, Convener of the NAGORIK Project’s Citizen Platform in Gangachara and representative of Democracywatch Facing Project; AzmiraAkhter, Vice-President of the Citizen Platform; and member Rashidul Islam. Participants also engaged in an open discussion.
Earlier, a rally was brought out from the UpazilaParishad premises and paraded through important streets.
