Int’l Physics Conf begins at CUET

TheVice-Chancellor of Chattagram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, said that the world is facing difficult challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, disease outbreaks, greenhouse gases, resource scarcity and growing inequality.

The leadership of researchers from developing countries is very important so that they can make a meaningful contribution to solving the biggest challenges of humanity.

He further said that the fundamental knowledge required for future technological advancements, renewable energy, environmentally friendly fuels, advanced materials and technological innovations is possible only from physics.

He made these remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the two-day international conference titled “6th International Conference on the Advancement of Physics in the Field of Physics (ICPSDT)-2025” organized by the Department of Physics at the Central Auditorium of CUET on Wednesday.

The guest of honor was the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University, Professor Dr. Saleh Hasan Naqib.

The special guests of the event were Dr. Faruk-uz-Zaman Chowdhury, former Vice-Chancellor of Hamdard University, Bangladesh and former Professor of the Department of Physics, and Professor Dr. A.H. Rashedul Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, CUET. The conference president and Head of the Department of Physics, Professor Dr. H. M. A. R. Maruf presided over the program, and Dr. Animesh Kumar Chakraborty, Conference Secretary and Professor of the Department of Physics, delivered the welcome speech.

At the beginning of the program, Maulana Hafez Qari Maulana Nurullah, Senior Pesh Imam of CUET Central Mosque, recited the Holy Quran. It was moderated by Tanzina Akhtar, PhD student of the Department of Physics, and Himel Barua, Master’s student.

It is worth noting that leading academicians, scholars and researchers from various universities and scientific research organizations in America, China, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh participated in the 6th International Conference of the Department of Physics.
