Int’l flights from Cox’s Bazar in Oct

International flight operations from Cox’s Bazar Airport are set to begin by mid-October, announced Sheikh Bashir Uddin, adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and the Ministry of Commerce, on Thursday (28 August).

The announcement came during his inspection of the airport’s ongoing development works.
Sheikh Bashir said that nearly 80 percent of the new international terminal has been completed, with preparations advancing on schedule.

Before the inspection, he held a meeting with airport authorities and project officials, followed by a tour of the under-construction terminal. He reviewed progress and spoke with engineers and staff overseeing the project.

According to him, the initial phase of international operations will begin with one aircraft, with flight numbers to gradually increase in the following months.

He also stressed that the government is working to keep ticket prices within reach to make international travel more affordable for passengers.

During the visit, Sheikh Bashir was accompanied by Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq, chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB); Begum Nasreen Jahan, secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism; Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin; along with senior officials from various agencies.
