With the slogan “One day you built the world, today I will build dreams and care for you with love,” the 35th International Day of Older Persons was observed in Shibganj, Chapainawabganj.
On this occasion, on Tuesday morning, a colourful rally was brought out from the premises of the Upazila Parishad, organised by the Upazila Administration and the Upazila Social Services Office.
The rally paraded through the main roads of the town and later gathered in the Upazila Administration hall for a discussion meeting. The discussion was presided over by Alhaj Akbar Hossain, President of the Shibganj Upazila Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Azahar Ali attended the event as the chief guest.
In his speech, the UNO said, “Elderly people are symbols of experience and wisdom in our society.
Their life experiences and contributions are invaluable assets to the nation.”
Among others, Upazila Social Services Officer Nurul Islam, Upazila Youth Development Officer Abdu’t Towab, Vice President of the Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association Mujibur Rahman, along with other local leaders and people from various walks of life, were present at the event.
