An application has been submitted to Interpol, the international police organization, for the issuance of red notices against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 11 others who have been ousted from power.
The National Central Bureau (NCB) of Bangladesh Police has submitted the request to Interpol in three separate phases, seeking red notices for these individuals who are accused in the July-August genocide case and are currently believed to be abroad.
According to sources from the police and the International Crimes Tribunal, this information came to light on Saturday.
Besides Sheikh Hasina, the individuals named in the Red Notice request include: Obaidul Quader, Awami League General Secretary and former Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Asaduzzaman Khan, former Home Minister ,A K M Mozammel Haque, former Minister for Liberation War Affairs, Hasan Mahmud, former Foreign Minister ,Jahangir Kabir Nanak, former Minister of Textiles and Jute, Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, former Education Minister ,Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, former Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Major General (Retd.) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, former Defense Adviser to the Prime Minister, Nasrul Hamid, former State Minister for Power, Mohammad Ali Arafat, former State Minister for Information, Benazir Ahmed, former Inspector General of Police (IGP).
