Interim govt is not sole centre of power: Asif

Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has said the interim government is not the “only centre of power”, adding he will not remain in it during the election period as he intends to pursue a political career.

Speaking on a YouTube talk show aired on Tuesday, the local government Adviser said anyone considering a future in politics should not remain part of the interim administration, reports bdnews24.com.

“If I don’t even contest the election, still, I should not remain in the election-time government,” he said. During the hour-and-forty-minute-long show, Asif responded to a wide range of questions in measured tone from political controversies to corruption allegations.

He addressed claims that Ishraque Hossain was barred from running for mayor of Dhaka, accusations against his personal assistant, allegations involving his father and a controversial UP chairman, and the dismissal of the BCB president.

He also responded to questions about his past Facebook posts, and spoke about being inside a police control room during an attack on the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Gopalganj, as well as a magazine being seized from his bag at the airport.
