Demands justice of Hadi’s killing: Inqilab Moncho takes ‘oath of martyrdom’

Staff Reporter :

Inqilab Mancha on Monday took an “oath of martyrdom” at Shahbagh in the capital in memory of Sharif Osman bin Hadi, demanding swift and exemplary justice for his killing.

The programme was held in front of the National Museum in the afternoon, where Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al-Jaber administered the oath.

Addressing supporters, he said Osman Hadi had spoken about Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty shortly before his death.

“We must stay prepared to continue the struggle. We will give blood again and again if needed to establish justice on the soil of Bengal,” Al-Jaber said, adding that bloodshed could not be repaid with politeness or compromise.

He stressed that Inqilab Mancha would never betray the blood of “Shaheed” Osman Hadi.

Al-Jaber said Hadi did not believe in violence and noted that around 1.5 million people attended his janaza. “If we had wanted retaliation, we could have called for it then. But we rejected violence,” he said.

He added that the organisation would continue to speak out on issues related to Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty, claiming that the attack was not aimed solely at Hadi but at the country itself.

“Even if all of us are killed, if one person remains alive on this land, justice will be served,” he said.

Al-Jaber also alleged that if the government views Inqilab Mancha as a threat, then “the government itself becomes an enemy of Bangladesh and justice.”

Reiterating demands over the investigation, he called for a probe involving a foreign intelligence agency and for the case to be tried under the Speedy Trial Tribunal within 30 working days.

He alleged that there were attempts to send the killers abroad amid political developments and claimed that powerful individuals were behind the murder, which is why the accused have not been presented publicly.

Announcing future plans, Al-Jaber said Inqilab Mancha would launch continuous programmes across the country after 25 December.

He warned that Bangladesh is going through a critical period and said failure to confront the situation would render the July 2024 uprising meaningless. “We will not allow that to happen,” he said.
