Professor Asif Nazrul, the Legal Adviser, has stated that instructions have been given to law enforcement agencies to ensure that innocent people are not arrested in any case.
He shared this information with journalists on Monday after attending an event in Dhaka.
The Legal Adviser said, “If someone wants to file a case, we cannot prevent it. However, an arrest should not automatically follow the filing of a case. Instructions have been given to ensure that innocent people are not harassed in any way. Wherever there is a lack of objectivity, we are trying to provide all possible legal remedies.”
Regarding the much-discussed child rape and murder case in Magura, the Legal Adviser said, “The trial proceedings of the case began last Wednesday. There was a slight delay in obtaining the charge sheet. The court is conducting the trial with utmost seriousness. I am hopeful that we will receive a verdict very soon.”
