In Rangpur Central Jail, two groups of inmates clashed, one inmate named Rafiqul was hit with a stick, and another inmate named Baharul Badsha was killed.

At this time, more than half a hundred were injured in the chase and clash. The incident started at around 8 o’clock on Friday morning.

According to police, prison and district administration sources, inside the Rangpur Central Jail, inmates Rafiqul and Baharul Badsha were involved in a chase and clash between two groups of inmates over eating the fruit of the Amra tree.

It has been reported that an inmate named Baharul Badsha was killed by the baton of prisoner Rafiqul. More than half a hundred were injured.

At that time, the prison guards fired to bring the situation under control. Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mobaswer Hasan and GOC Major General Shakeel Ahmed of 66 Infantry Division of Rangpur Cantonment rushed to the spot after receiving the news.

They spoke to the aggrieved inmates to bring the situation under control and appealed for calm.

It is known that Bahadur Mia’s son of Pirganj Upazila of Rangpur was imprisoned in Rangpur Jail.

When Baharul Badsha was injured in the morning encounter, he was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. At that time, the doctor on duty declared him dead.

After this incident, there was a clash between the center inmates.

When the tension started inside the prison, the police and the army came and brought the situation under control.

In this incident, a 3-member investigation committee has been formed under the leadership of Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mobaswer Hasan. In this incident, two prison guards named Shahjahan and Mottaleb were suspended for negligence of duty.

The sudden situation spread panic among the local people of the area and traffic on the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway in front of the jail was stopped for some time.

In this regard, Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mobashwer Hasan admitted the shootings and clashes in the jail and said, “The situation is currently under control with the help of the army, RAB and police.
