A youth who was injured while attempting to prevent an attack on the house of former Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque in Gazipur has passed away.
The victim, identified as Md. Kashem, 20, a member of Students Against Discrimination, died around 3:00 PM on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Md. Kashem was the son of the late Jaman Haji from the Kalmeshwar area of Gazipur city. Officer-in-Charge of Gaccha Thana, Ali Mohammad Rased, confirmed the matter.
Md. Abdullah Mohit, the convener of the Gazipur unit of Students Against Discrimination, filed a case with Gazipur Sadar Thana in connection with the incident.
Earlier, on February 7, at least 20 people were injured when alleged Awami League activists attacked a group of protesters near the ancestral home of Mozammel Haque in Gazipur.
