Landless families in Kendua, Netrokona are living a very inhumane life. There are many families who do not have even an inch of land. They do not even have a house to live in. They are sheltered in other people’s houses. Other people’s houses are their address. They live a very helpless life without food. No one takes care of them. They are deprived of basic rights. Such a life system is absolutely inhuman in this civilized era of modernity.
After investigation, it was found that – Fukrar Bap, Golap Mia, Majeda Begum, Habi Mia, Zahera Khatun, Julekha Khatun, Rezia Khatun, Josu Mia of Maska village in Maska union of the upazila, Sekandar Ali of Baigani village, Riaz Uddin of Auzia village, Amena Begum, Lalita Khatun of Joyka village, Haruna Akhter of Satashi village, Shefali Akhter of Sarishakotha village in Balaishimul union, Mina Khatun, Sakhina Khatun of Maijkandi village, Lalita Khatun, Amena Khatun of Jalalpur village in Kandiura union, Rekha Akhter of Bishnupur village, Julekha Khatun, Khodeja Khatun, Lale Bhai of Atigram of Sandikona union, A. Salam of Patairkona village in Royailbari union, Shar Banu of Kaurat Khilapara village in Nowpara union, There are many families in this upazila including Hena Akhtar of Kaurat village, Mosharraf Hossain of Saudpara Mohalla of Kendua Municipality, Ramlal Rabidas, a cobbler in the municipal market, Moti Mia of Gopalashram village of Chirang Union, A. Latif, Binod Ali and Rahela Khatun. These landless families live without food and drink by building a house in someone else’s vacant land. Many others live in abandoned houses.
There is no electricity. There is no proper sewage system. Water shortage is severe. Even in this era, many people use kerosene lamps. They have not been lucky enough to get an official address. The only resource they have as an address is the house of someone else. Some of them are daily wage laborers. Some of them make a living by begging. Even in this civilized era of modernity, they are deprived of basic rights. Their life is very difficult and difficult. However, Kendua has been declared a landless upazila.
Selina Khatun, the fifty-something disabled wife of a landless poor man from Maska village, said – There is no land. Her husband is blind. He cannot do any work. We live by roaming around the neighborhood all day, without eating anything. Shefali Akhtar, Mina Khatun and many others from Sarishakotha village said the same with great regret.
In this regard, Kendua Upazila Executive Officer Imdadul Haque Talukder said – Those who do not have land, houses or anything are landless. Kendua has already been declared landless-free. If anyone remains landless, necessary action will be taken after receiving their list.
