The general point-to-point inflation rate in Bangladesh rose to 9.35 per cent in March 2025, up slightly from 9.32 per cent in February 2025.
The general point-to-point inflation rate in Bangladesh has reached 9.35 per cent in March, 2025 slightly up from 9.32 per cent in February, 2025.
According to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the slight rise was mainly driven by an increase in non-food inflation.
In March 2025, the point-to-point food inflation declined to 8.93 per cent, down from 9.24 per cent in February last, the BBS data showed.
Meanwhile, the non-food inflation rate showed a slight increase reaching 9.70 per cent in March, up from 9.38 per cent in February, 2025.
The point-to-point inflation rate declined in the rural areas, but increased in the urban areas last month. In the rural areas, it was 9.41 per cent in March which was 9.51 per cent in February, 2025.
The food inflation in the rural areas was 8.81 per cent in March down from 9.15 per cent in February, 2025 while the non-food inflation rate, however, increased to 9.97 per cent in March up from 9.85 per cent in February, 2025.
On the other hand, the point-to-point inflation rate in the urban areas in March, 2025 was 9.66 per cent which was 9.34 per cent in February.
The food inflation rate in the urban areas in March, 2025 was 9.18 per cent which was 9.47 per cent in February, 2025 while the non-food inflation rate in March, 2025 was 9.95 per cent which was 9.27 per cent in February this year.
The moving average of inflation over the last one year from April 2024 to March 2025 reached 10.26 per cent which was 9.69 per cent from April, 2023 to March, 2024.
The wage rate index in March, 2025 was 8.15 per cent which was 8.12 per cent in February, 2025.
