Indian smuggled goods worth crores seized in Sylhet

The BGB has seized Indian smuggled goods and animals worth crores from various border areas in Sylhet.

Patrol teams of various BOPs under their 48th battalion seized these goods on Monday (June 16) night and Tuesday (June 17) morning.

The BGB said that the BOPs of Tamabil, Pratappur, Pantumai, Bichnakandi, Damdamiya, Banglabazar conducted raids in the border areas of Sylhet district and seized Indian sarees, blades, screen cream, cows, sugar, soap, biscuits, shampoo, olive oil, toothpaste, shrimps and ponas and horn fish worth 1 crore 20 lakh 2 thousand 600 taka while they were being smuggled from Bangladesh to India.

The commander of BGB 48 Battalion said, “As per the instructions of the headquarters, BGB’s operational activities and intelligence activities are continuing to maintain security at the border and prevent smuggling.”
