Desk Report :

The Indian Border Security Force has allegedly pushed 24 individuals into Bangladesh through the Dinajpur-Birampur and Mymensingh’s Dhobaura border.

A patrol team of the BGB-29 detained 15 people– three men, three women and nine children– who were suspiciously moving around the Achintopur Border area on Friday night.

Acting commander of Dinajpur Fulbari Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)-29 Major Md Sajjadul Islam confirmed the information on Friday.

Md Rafiqul Islam, commandant of Achintopur Border Outpost in Biral upazila said the BGB members noticed these people wandering inside the border while patrolling the border.

Quoting the detainees, the BGB official said that BSF had forcibly pushed them into Bangladesh through border pillar 295/1 S on Friday night.

Likewise, Indian police have allegedly pushed nine people, including two children, back into Bangladesh through the border in Mymensingh’s Dhobaura by threatening and intimidating them.

The incident took place around 5:15pm on Thursday through the Upazila’s Munshipara BOP area, Nayek Subedar Md Khairul Islam of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Munshipara Camp said on Friday.

The group had been living and working in India’s Chennai for a long time, according to him. Recently, local Indian residents began threatening them to leave for Bangladesh.

While attempting to return to Bangladesh, they were detained by Indian police, who later pushed them across the border.

Khairul said that once the BGB was made aware of the situation, they took all nine people, including the two children, into custody. They are currently being sheltered at the BGB camp.

He added that preparations were underway to hand them over to Dhobaura Police Station for further legal procedures.
