Aswin hits unbeaten ton: India pile up 339/6

India National Cricket team piled up 339 for the loss of six wickets on the Day 1 play of the first Test cricket match against Bangladesh National Cricket team at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday.

Hasan Mahmud bowled extremely well. He finished his opening day spell as 18-4-58-4.

India had a poor start as opener Rohit Sharma (6) was caught at the second slip by Najmul Hossain Shanto off Hasan Mahmud when India’s score was 14.

Hasan Mahmud struck again as one-down Shubman Gill (0) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Litton Das off the right-arm pacer when the hosts’ score was 28 for the loss of two wickets.

Hasan Mahmud hit again as second-down Virat Kohli (6) was caught behind by Litton Das off promising pacer when the home side’s total 34 for the loss of three wickets.

After Kohli’s dismissal, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and third-down batter Rishabh Pant repaired the damage adding together 62 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Rishabh Pant was caught behind by wicketkeeper Litton Das off Hasan Mahmud when India’s score was 96 for the loss of four wickets.

Pant made 39 from 52 deliveries featuring six fours.

After Pant’s departure, Jaiswal and KL Rahul built a worthy partnership. They scored together 48 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Jaiswal was caught at the first slip by Shadman Islam off Nahid Rana when India’s total was 144 for the loss of five wickets.

Jaiswal notched up a gritty 56. He hit nine fours in his 118-ball innings.
After Jaiswal’s dismissal, KL Rahul could not stay at crease for a long period as he (16) was caught at the short leg by Zakir Hasan off Mehidy Hasan Miraz when the hosts’ score was 144 for the loss of six wickets.

Fifth-down Ravindra Jadeja and sixth-down Ravichandran Ashwin rescued their team from danger putting together 195 runs for the unbroken seventh wicket partnership before the bails were drawn for the first day.

Ashwin remained unbeaten with 102 runs. His 112-ball innings was belted with 10 fours and two sixes. He reached the hundred-run land-mark using 108 deliveries with 10 fours and two sixes.

Jadeja remained unbeaten with 86 runs. He hit 10 fours and two sixes in his 112-ball knock.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nahid Rana picked up one wicket each for 77 and 80 runs respectively.
