Independent TV CEO flees to Dubai

M Shamsur Rahman Momen, Editor-in-Chief and CEO of Independent Television, one of Bangladesh’s leading private broadcasters, left for Dubai, UAE, on July 29, ahead of a Dhaka court order restricting his travel.

The court imposed the ban on August 13 following a request from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), citing allegations of money laundering and corruption.

Allegations have surfaced that information regarding the travel ban was leaked from within the ACC, allowing him to leave before restrictions took effect.

According to official records, M Shamsur Rahman Momen made at least 10 international trips between August 2024 and June 2025, visiting destinations such as Dubai, New York, and Bangkok. Investigators suspect these trips were linked to money-laundering activities involving Beximco.
