The great Independence Day was celebrated in an unprecedented atmosphere at Borhanuddin in Bhola.
The day’s program began with 31 gunshots in the first hour of Wednesday.
In the morning, people from different classes and professions, including the Upazila administration, municipality administrators, officials of various government and private departments, laid wreaths and paid tribute at the Shahidbedi.
Then leaders of BNP and allied organizations led by Upazila BNP convener Mafruja Sultana paid tribute at the Shahidbedi.
A parade was held at 9 am at the Borhanuddin Government High School grounds. UNO Md. Raihan-Uzzaman and OC Siddiqur Rahman took the salute at the parade.
Then, a reception ceremony was held at the same place for the families of martyred freedom fighters and freedom fighters organized by the Upazila Administration, Upazila Executive Officer Md. Raihan-Uzzaman presided over the event, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mehedi Hasan, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Nirupam Sarkar, Upazila Engineer Mainul Islam Khan, Upazila Statistics Officer Nani Gopal, Freedom Fighter Representative Nurul Amin Mia, Former Freedom Fighter Commander Asmat Ali, Freedom Fighter Riazuddin and others spoke at the event.
In addition, various educational institutions including Borhanuddin Kamil Madrasa and Bhola Polytechnic Institute held various programs on Independence Day.
