‘In the history of Bangla band, no other cassette has been sold like Prottasha’

After the establishment of popular band Miles in 1979, they first sang on Bangladesh Television (BTV) in 1982. In the same year they did their first live concert at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Their first album ‘Miles’ (English) was released in the same year.
In 1991, they released their first Bengali album titled ‘Protishruti’ and in 1993, they released their second solo Bengali album titled ‘Prottasha’.
Later, every song of this ‘Prottasha’ album spread in the mouth of every people of the country. The song ‘Phiriye Dao’ of this album released with the combination of melody, lyrics and modern music is still popular in the people’s mouths.
After that, the songs of several bands became popular, the single song sung by Shafin Ahmed became popular. But Shafin has not seen so much success like the album ‘Prottasha’.
In an interview, Shafin Ahmed said, “In the history of Bangla band, no other cassette has been sold like ‘Prottasha’. When the cassette is broken to listen to music, people keep the cassette again, but in the collection. Every song of this cassette was memorised by listeners.”
Basically this album was made by the selfless efforts of each member of ‘Miles’.
Manam Ahmed, one of the members of Miles, said in this regard, “Each of our songs is made through teamwork. The band has moved forward with everyone’s concerted efforts.”
Shafin Ahmed went to the country of no return yesterday.
He went out of Miles three times. Most of the songs of Miles band contain the voice of Shafin Ahmed. The songs got huge popularity. In addition to singing in the band, Shafin played the band’s bass guitar.
However, this band has been broken for the past few years due to internal conflicts.
That’s why Shafin Ahmed left Miles three times.
