A team of International Hope School Bangladesh (IHSB) carries the Red-Green flag at the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge (HERC) this year as the only high-school contender was selected in both categories from Bangladesh.
The NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge (HERC) is a prestigious annual event hosted by NASA, which engages students in hands-on engineering design challenges.
This year, the competition has bifurcated into two parts: the Human-powered challenge and the Remote-controlled challenge.
The competition which began on April 10 at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, USA, is showcasing IHSB’s engineering excellence on an international stage. As IHSB’s fourth consecutive year participating in this prestigious competition, the team has expanded in size and vision, dedicating long hours to research, design, and testing.
Under the guidance of advisors Abul Kalam Azad and Moonzoor Morshed, along with technical advisors Shahidul Hassan Monti and Iftekhar Hossain, the 26-member team-led by Student Team Leads Shajadi Ayman Sultana and Mahjabin Alam Roshni-has been working tirelessly to uphold Bangladesh’s honor in this global competition.
Head of Senior section of Uttrara branch Kamrul Ahsan, deputy head of Gulshan branch Rockibul Karim, and Adnan Shihab Ahmed and Saima Samad from the teacher are accompanying the team.
Encouraging the team, the school’s Chairman Timothy Donald Fisher remarked, “You are not only representing the school but your country. Carry the green and red with honor and make Bangladesh proud.”
Moreover, the student team leads shared, “We are extremely grateful for our Technical advisor teachers. Their guidance, resilience, and patience helped us turn our rovers into reality.”
From research papers, presentations and engineering, our team is dedicated to shine in all sectors of the challenge. This esteemed competition plays an integral role in providing young enthusiasts with an amazing opportunity who have requisite interest in STEM and robotics, they said.
They added “Every member of the team brings passion and expertise to the table, and together, we’re building a project that is not just about competition, it is about creating a real-world impact.”
