IGP heads to UK for INTERPOL assembly

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Mainul Islam left Bangladesh on Saturday night for the United Kingdom (UK) to attend the 92nd General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization, INTERPOL.

The IGP will lead a two-member delegation in the four-day assembly that takes place from November 4-7, 2024 in Glasgow, UK. Another member of the delegation is AIG of Police Headquarters Ali Haider Chowdhury, said a press release.

Representatives from 196 member countries of the INTERPOL will take part in the assembly.

The Bangladesh delegation will hold a bilateral meeting and exchange of views with the representatives of different countries and the Human Resources Management (HRM) division of the INTERPOL on the sidelines of the assembly.

Apart from the meetings, Bangladesh Police will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Australian Federal Police.

The IGP is scheduled to return home on November 9. Bangladesh became a member of the INTERPOL on October 14 in 1976.
