ICC announces schedule of Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Sunday the schedule of the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, starting on October 3 in Bangladesh.
Honourable Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina unveiled the trophy and launched the fixture of the Women’s T20 World Cup on Sunday in the presence of Bangladesh National Women’s Cricket team Captain Nigar Sultan Joty and Indian National Women’s Cricket team Captain Harmanpreet Kaur.
Bangladesh are placed in Group B with England, South Africa, West Indies and Qualifier-2. Group A comprises with India, defending champions Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Qualifier-1.
Qualifiers 1 and 2 will emerge from the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with the final being played on May 7.
Bangladesh Cricket Board CEO, Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said: “We take great pride in revealing the fixture schedule for the ninth ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Bringing an ICC World Cup back to Bangladesh is truly exciting, especially given the country’s immense fan base eagerly awaiting this prestigious event.”

Each side will play four group matches at the tournament, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the cut-throat semi-finals on 17 and 18 October ahead of the Final in Dhaka on 20 October.
In total, there will be 23 matches played across 19 days in Dhaka and Sylhet, with reserve days in place for both semi-finals and the final should they be required.
The hosts will open the tournament against Qualifier 2 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur after the opening match between England and South Africa on October 3.
The Tigresses will face England on October 5, West Indies on October 9 and South Africa on October 12 in the same venue.
Group A: Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Qualifier 1
Group B: South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Qualifier 2
