Islami Bank Customer Forum has held a human chain program to raise allegations of looting and corruption in Islami Bank from 2017-2024 and demand the immediate dismissal of incompetent officials illegally appointed under the influence of S Alam Group.
The human chain was organized on Monday at the premises of Bangladesh Islami Bank PLC branch in Shahparan Bazar, Sylhet Sadar Upazila by the initiative of Islami Bank Customer Forum.
Businessmen from different levels, members of the Customer Forum and general customers participated in this organized program.
The speakers in the human chain said that from 2017 to 2024, the interests of customers have been harmed through looting, irregularities and corruption in various branches of Islami Bank. They alleged that the incompetent and unethical officials, especially those employed under the umbrella of the ‘looter and mafia S Alam Group’, are tarnishing the image of the bank.
The speakers sought the intervention of the Islami Bank authorities and Bangladesh Bank to take swift and strict action against these officials. They said that there is no alternative to a united movement of customers and the general public to save the banking sector from destruction. They demanded a strict stand against the irregularities, nepotism and corruption that started since S Alam took over Islami Bank and the prompt removal of the concerned officials.
Shamim Ahmed, a member of the Islami Bank Customer Forum, presided over the human chain. Lecturers Shahedur Rahman, forum members Manjur Rahman, Jahedul Islam Khaled, Maulana Hafiz, Zahir Uddin, Md. Muhibullah, Asaduzzaman, Mosha. Luna Begum, Mosha. Shahena Begum, Mosha. Parveen Begum and others also attend the human chain.
