A team of International Atomic Energy Organization (IAEA) has begun to review whether Rupur nuclear power plants are ready for experimental production. This is a phase of their original observation starting. The project sources confirmed that final approval will be needed for final approval. The IAEA team has started monitoring and reviewing the activities of the first Ruppur nuclear power project in Bangladesh from Sunday (March 9). Until March 13, every preparation team in the project area will look into the area.
It is learned that the 12 -member expert team led by the power plant manager Yuri Martineno arrived in the Rupur project area on Saturday (March 8th). They have started monitoring the structural, technical and equipment preparation of the center since Sunday morning, the project officials said.
Ruppur Nuclear Power Station Project Director Dr. Jahedul Hassan said that the nuclear power plant has to be tested step by step. You have to go to the next step after completing each step. “We have almost completed the structural and machinery work of unit-1,” he said. I am currently in the final preparation to launch it. I am going through various tests and the IAEA is monitoring it.
He said that the construction and installation of the unit-1 of the Rupur nuclear power plant is almost completed, but it will still take a long time to start the power generation. It is important to prepare a full grid connection to start the experimental production of the power plant, which has not yet been completed.
Dr. Jahed said the power line and connection should be examined before generating electricity. It will take about two months to finish. Then it will take three more months to complete the fuel assembly process on the fuel load and reactor.
Work is underway on this $12.65 billion project to generate 2,400 megawatts of electricity from two units of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Project.
It has been more than two years late in the implementation of the project for various reasons including the Corona epidemic, Russia-Ukraine war. The production of the unit-1 of this power plant was supposed to begin on December 2022 and the unit-2 was supposed to be launched in October 2023. The entire project was supposed to be completed on December 31, 2025.
