Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, senior nayeb-e-ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh and also known as Shaikh-e-Charmonai to his supporters, has urged the government to suppress with firm hand separatists in the Chittagong Hill Tracts who want to declare independence.
Faizul made the call as chief guest during a rally public gathering organized by the party’s Brahmanbaria unit on Sunday.
A conspiracy was underway against the country, he said, adding that if necessary, the government could call on the people, and every citizen of Bangladesh would fight to defend every inch of the country.
Addressing Chief Adviser Dr Yunus, Faizul said he must govern the country with courage and never bow to anyone. “If you do not discriminate, every citizen of Bangladesh will stand with you.”
The Islami Andolan leader also called on the interim government to hold national elections through the proportional representation system, saying that without this, it would be impossible to have corruption-free voting.
