Rumours of Sohini Sarkar, a popular actress of West Bengal, joining politics started after the Abhaya incident.

At that time, the way Sohini was active and vocal about the whole incident, many assumed that she might soon be seen on the political stage. There was a reason behind such a thought.

Many Tollywood actors and actresses have been seen joining politics after speaking out on social issues in the past.

However, even after a year of the Abhaya incident, this actress has not been seen joining any political party till now.

However, recently, during the promotions of the film ‘Raghu Dakat’, discussions resumed over an incident involving Sohini’s dancing with a Trinamool leader.

In this context, Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh also made oblique comments about the actress. Sohini has finally clarified her position.

In an interview given to Indian media, she directly announced her entry into politics.

Sohini said, “Even if an offer comes to me, I still do not want to join any political party in any way, in any sense.

Be it Trinamool or Congress, BJP or CPM, I do not want to be part of any political party.

If I ever become part of a political party, I will have nothing more to say. I will have to become completely silent then.”

In recent years, it has been seen that many stars of the small and big screen are actively involved in political parties.

While there was a time when artistes kept themselves away from political matters, now that picture has largely reversed. From Dev to big stars like Mithun Chakraborty, they are now actively involved in politics.
