Sylhet Bureau :
National Citizens Party (NCP) Central Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr. Tasneem Zara said, we came into politics to return the power of the people to the people. Since independence, we have not received the respect we are supposed to receive as citizens of Bangladesh. Civil rights have never been protected. Whenever we go to any government office, we feel like someone’s mercy, in fact, these are our rights. Now we feel afraid to go to the land office, because we have to pay a bribe every time we go here. We have to get what we deserve by bribery.
He said these words as the chief guest in the courtyard meeting organized by NCP Dakshin Surma Upazila in Sylhet district on Monday (September 1) afternoon demanding the Constituent Assembly elections, a new constitution, justice and reforms. He said that the Anti-Corruption Commission is working more to suppress the opposition parties than to suppress corruption. If the Anti-Corruption Commission were truly impartial, then if those in power were to expose corruption, these problems would be solved. Those in power appoint the ACC chief, so whoever gets the appointment will be afraid. Dr. Tasneem Zara said, we want to change the rules. There should be rules that bring whoever is in power under fair investigation. Let them be tried. The new rules are our new constitution. NCP is raising the voice of a new constitution on behalf of the common people. In which civil rights will be restored. In the past, the youth have been belittled and humiliated. Young people have a lot of love for the country. As they get older, the courage to question the power decreases. But the youth have a lot of that courage. We have to come out of the culture of belittling the youth unnecessarily. Our women have led the people from the front lines in the mass uprising. We are also demanding this so that our women can be active in politics safely. NCP Sylhet district member Helal Ahmed presided over the courtyard meeting.
Special guests were NCP Central Organizer (Northern Region) Advocate Shirin Akhter Shelly and Nahid Uddin Tarek.
NCP Sylhet Metropolitan Chief Coordinator Abu Sadek Mohammad Khairul Islam Chowdhury, Sylhet District Joint Coordinator Abu Sayeed, members Sohel Ahmed Musa, Ayesha Siddika Priya, Gias Uddin, Sylhet District Publicity Coordinator Maulana Mufti Salim Ahmed Khan, Sylhet District Member Nurul Islam, National Youth Power Central Organizer Mahbubur Rahman were present at the time.
