Staff Reporter :
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has apprehended Mizanur Rahman Sumon, 30, for the horrific murder of his wife, Bilkis Begum, 26, by dousing her with petrol and setting her on fire in a jungle at Sector No. 24 of Purbachal.

The incident occurred on Sunday last, and tragically, Bilkis succumbed to her injuries at Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute and Hospital the following morning.

Mizanur, a taxicab driver from Muradnagar in Cumilla, had been residing in Ranabhola under Turag Police Station in Dhaka with his first wife Shimu, their one and a half-year-old daughter, and his mother.

Two years ago, he married Bilkis and had been living with her at a rented house in Nayapara, near Ranabhola.

According to RAB sources, Mizanur, struggling with the financial burden of supporting two families, allegedly killed Bilkis due to disagreements over money. His arrest was made on Tuesday evening from Bason area in Gazipur, following intensive efforts by RAB-1.
