A newborn baby girl was found in Mistripara at Damodar Union in Phultala Upazila of Khulna district, early on Sunday.
With the help of law enforcers, the baby girl was immediately rescued by local public representatives and locals and sent to Phultala Upazila Health Complex.
Later, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tasneem Jahan went to the Upazila Health Complex to check the physical condition of the newborn baby.
After observing the overall condition of the baby, the baby was transferred to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment in consultation with the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer and the officials present.
When the news spread, childless couples and many others became interested in adopting the baby.
Many childless couples, humanitarians and child lovers have reportedly contacted the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Social Service Officer, and police station.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Phultala Tasneem Jahan said media personnel, “The child will initially be sent to a Safe Home. Then, as per the decision of the Social Service Committee, those interested in adopting will be handed over to the appropriate process after verifying their backgrounds.
