RKS Foundation (Rezaul Karim Sikder Foundation) formed a human chain on the bank of the Karnaphuli River (Chaktai Canal) on Saturday and demanded rebuilding of Sadarghat area.
They said why more than two thousand illegal establishments were not extinguished according to the High Court directive after demolish of more than 500 illegal establishments.
People want to know from the administration and the port authorities about the matter.
RKS demanded an occupation and pollution free Karnaphuli River, ban on illegal sand lifting, unplanned use of the river.
Recently, the occupation activities are underway again on the shore of the Karnaphuli, but the district administration is pretending not to see.
The speakers also said that 12 per cent of the economy performer should be removed all the illegal structures of the Karnaphuli river, and the naturally created trees that survive on both banks of the river should be protected. According to the High Court order, the Chittagong District Administration and the Port Authority will have to abolish illegal structures.
