In Moulvibazar’s Srimangal east of Laiyarkul village, the villagers formed a human chain protesting against the illegal occupation of government and private land by building a wall and stopping the water drainage system.
About a hundred villagers of the village formed a human chain in front of the Dhaka-Sylhet regional highway in the Matiganj area of the upazila on Wednesday morning.
Village sardar (village chief) Firaj Miah, president of Longla River Water Development Organization Shaheen Miah, village mentor Rilu Miah, Sohail Miah, Shahena Akhtar and others were present in the human chain.
Speakers in Manbandhan said, the local influential Ajirun Begum illegally occupied the public space and the private space of the people of the village and built a wall in front of the bridge on the road side of our East Loyar village. Due to this, the water drainage system of a river has been stopped.
