A human chain has been held in Barishal city demanding the construction of bridge on Barishal-Bhola road connecting the river isolated island district with divisional city and other parts of the country.
The Bhola District Public Welfare Association in Barisal formed this human chain in front of Ashwini Kumar Town Hall in the city center on Monday.
The human chain was presided over by the adviser of the association and former Additional Divisional Commissioner of Barishal Nurul Alam.
It was addressed among others former principal of Government BM College Professor Fazlul Haque, former director of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital Dr. Abdur Rashid, president of Barishal District Journalists Union Azad Alauddin, officer of Barishal City Corporation and former general secretary of the association Kamal Hossain.
The speakers said that there is no direct road toconnect river isolated Bhola district with rest of the country including the divisional city Barishal.
As a result, all types of development activities in Bhola have come to a standstill.
To resolve this situation, they demanded the immediate start of the construction of the Barishal-Bhola bridge on the connecting rivers.
