Huge cigarettes seized at HSIA

Customs Intelligence Department conducted a drive and recovered at least 1,500 cartons of foreign cigarettes worth around Tk 40 lakh from the city’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Monday.
Nobody was arrested in this connection, Customs official said.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate’s Assistant Director Umme Nahida Akter said that they conducted a drive in the cargo area of the Airport following a secret information around 11:45am and recovered the cigarettes imported in the country in illegal way, she said.
