Leading global AI device ecosystem brand HONOR has officially inaugurated its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bangladesh, marking its official entry into local production.
The launch ceremony was held on Tuesday (Dece02) at the Hi-Tech Park in Kaliakair, Gazipur, attended by senior government officials, HONOR leaders, and representatives from Smart Technologies.
With the opening of this facility, HONOR is taking a major step towards localizing production in Bangladesh, as devices assembled here will soon be available under the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ label.
This factory is designed to set new benchmarks in manufacturing excellence by integrating global AI innovation with local manufacturing expertise in Bangladesh.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by distinguished guests including Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology; Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary, ICT Division; Md.Nurannabi, Director, BTRC; Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan, Managing Director, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority; and Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Managing Director of Smart Technologies.
George Zheng, President of Southeast Asia, and Derrick Deng, President of Supply Chain Management (Global), represented HONOR at the event. From the Bangladesh team, Lang Guo, the Country Manager; Abdullah Al Mamun, Head of Business; and Muzahidul Islam, Deputy Country Manager, attended the event.
At the initial stage, the facility will operate a single production line with a daily capacity of 1,500 units. HONOR plans to expand operations to four production lines within the first year, significantly scaling up output to meet growing demand.
Addressing the event, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said,
“Through this inauguration, Smart and HONOR have kept their promise to create meaningful jobs in this country.”
George Zheng, President of HONOR Southeast Asia Region, said,”This factory is more than a physical structure. It is a symbol of a partnership between our organization and the Government of Bangladesh.”
Mohammad Zahirul Islam, MD, Smart Technologies (BD) Limited, said “HONOR phones have already received strong market feedback, and users want them at more affordable prices.”
