Homayra Bashir sings Rokeya Siddiqa’s song

Presented by Kaniz Nira, the programme titled ‘Smritimoy Gaangulo’ on the evolution of Bengali songs is being aired on Bangladesh Television (BTV). Musician Syed Abdul Hadi will be the researcher and discussant of the programme.

The shooting of the new episode of the programme was completed at BTV’s studio recently.
In this programme, Homayra Bashir sang the song ‘Aro Sohoje Tumi Aamake Kadate Parte’ sung by Rokeya Siddiqa. The song was written by the late Nuruzzaman, and the tune and music were composed by the late Swapan Saha. The song was sung by vocalist Homayra Bashir, daughter of the late musician Bashir Ahmed, to pay tribute to them.

Syed Abdul Hadi praised the song after hearing it in Homayra’s voice.
Homayra Bashir said, “I tried to make the song simple and sing it my way. Uncle Hadi said I sang well. His praise is a big achievement for me. The episode I sang is scheduled to be aired on BTV soon. I hope the audience will like the song.”

The memorable songs for the programme were researched and written by Munshi Wadud. The producer is Mahbuba Jamin.

Besides, Homayra Bashir has sung an original song on BTV’s ‘Surer Chhowa’ programme. She said that this song will also be aired soon.

Homayra Bashir is currently busy with her new songs. The music for the songs is being arranged by her younger brother Raja Bashir.
