Historic win for Bangladesh Tigers clinch T20I series 2-1

The Tigers clinched the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series 2-1 after defeating Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the last and final T20I at Ranasinghe Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka on Wednesday. Bangladesh created history as they for the first time won a T20I series in Sri Lanka against the Islanders.

Chasing Sri Lanka’s modest total of 132 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs, Bangladesh romped home making 133 for the loss of two wickets when they had 21 balls to spare.

Litton Das made 32 from 26 balls featuring two fours and a sixer.
After Litton’s dismissal, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Towhid Hridoy played the key role to reach the winning spot contributing together 59 runs for the third wicket partnership when Bangladesh’s innings came to an end.

Tanzid Hasan Tamim remained unbeaten with 73 runs. His 47-ball innings was studded with six sixes and one four.

Towhid Hridoy remained unbeaten with 27 runs. His 25-ball knock had one four and one sixer.
Kamindu Mendis and Nuwan Thushara took one wicket each conceding 21 and 25 runs respectively.

Earlier, Right-arm spinner Mahedi Hasan captured four wickets in the space of 11 runs. Mahedi Hasan was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Shamim Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam took one wicket each giving 10, 17 and 50 runs respectively.

Opener Pathum Nissaka, Dasun Shanaka and Kamindu Mendis shone with the willow.
Nissanka hit a polished 46. His 39-ball innings was belted with four fours.
Shanaka remained unbeaten with 35. His 25-ball innings was ornamented with four fours and two sixes.

Kamindu Mendis scored 21 from 15 deliveries including one four and one six.
