Highway, district, and Sylhet police meet to coordinate Eid-ul-Azha plans

DIG (Operations – East Division) of Bangladesh Police and Highway Police Headquarters Dhaka, Habibur Rahman Khan, emphasized the importance of ensuring safe and smooth travel for Eid-ul-Azha commuters. Speaking as the chief guest at a coordination meeting on Monday (June 2) at 12 PM, held at the Superintendent of Police, Highway Police Sylhet Region Office, he said that extensive preparations have been made to manage the anticipated surge in holiday travel.

“Millions of people travel from the capital Dhaka to various regions, including the popular tourist destination Sylhet, during Eid-ul-Azha,” DIG Khan noted. “The Highway Police is working tirelessly to ensure that travelers, including women and families, reach their destinations safely and enjoy the festival in a peaceful and festive atmosphere.”

He added that coordination meetings have been conducted with members of the Sylhet Range, Sylhet Division Police, and field-level personnel to ensure smooth and traffic-free travel on key routes, including Aguganj to Sylhet via Jaflong and Sunamganj. “Just as we ensured a safe environment during Eid-ul-Fitr, we are once again working in tandem with the District Police to replicate that success.”

Officers-in-charge across the region have actively discussed measures to ensure public safety and ease of travel through collaborative efforts between the Highway and District Police, he stated.

The meeting was presided over by Md. Rezaul Karim, Superintendent of Police, Highway Police Sylhet Region. In his speech, he reaffirmed the commitment of the Highway Police to assist travelers 24/7 during the Eid rush. “Passengers and livestock transporters can reach out to the Highway Police Sylhet Region through dedicated helplines at any time,” he said.
