Staff Reporter: The High Court on Thursday rejected BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s bail a petition again.
The petition was seeking Khaleda Zia’s bail on health and humanitarian grounds in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case.
The court passed the rejection order based on a report by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) which said it is possible to provide advanced treatment for Khaleda Zia at BSMMU.
The HC said that the report prepared by a seven-member medical board of BSMMU has stated that Khaleda did not give her consent to get advanced treatment.
Saying that a convicted accused is given treatment under the provision of the jail code, the court added that it will be the same for Khaleda Zia as she is a convicted accused in custody. She cannot recieve treatment beyond the jail code as per her wishes.
The HC bench of Justice Obaidul Hasan and Justice AKM Zahirul Haque passed the order after hearing the bail petition.

According to the medical report, the BNP Chairperson has been ailing from different diseases including diabetics, hypertension, arthritis and asthma.
Her diabetics, hypertension and asthma are now under control, the judge quoted from the report.
