Hero Alom hospitalised after taking sleeping pills in Bogura

Social media personality Ashraful Alom, widely known as Hero Alom, was hospitalised on Friday after reportedly consuming an excessive number of sleeping pills while visiting a friend in Dhunot upazila of Bogura.

According to hospital sources, Alom was initially taken to Dhunot Upazila Health Complex around noon in an unconscious state. He was later transferred to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for further treatment. Doctors confirmed that he is now out of danger.

Alom had been staying overnight at the home of his friend, playwright Jahid Hasan Sagor, in Bhandarbari village near the Jamuna River. Concern arose around 11am when Jahid failed to wake him and discovered sleeping pills beside his pillow.

“We brought him to the hospital immediately after realizing something was wrong,” Jahid said. “He had been emotionally distressed and spoke at length about his estranged wife Riya Moni.”

Jahid added that Alom appeared overwhelmed by public scrutiny and personal issues. “He said wherever he went, people questioned him about Riya. I think that pressure may have pushed him to this point.”

Riya Moni, Alom’s third wife, has been the focus of recent controversy. Alom had announced plans to divorce her and filed an attempted homicide case against her earlier.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the incident was a suicide attempt, but an investigation is underway.
