Azizul Haque Islamabadi, organizing secretary of Hefajat-e-Islam, have been placed on seven days remand in a case filed with Paltan Police Station over mayhem in Motijheel.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari passed the order on Monday. This information has been known from the general registration branch of the concerned court.
Accused Azizul Haque was produced before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court today with a 10-day remand prayer by the investigating officer. Following the application, the court granted him seven-day remand.
Earlier on Sunday, Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police arrested Azizul Haque in a joint operation with RAB at Hathazari in Chattogram at midnight. After his arrest, he was sent to court for questioning at the DB office in Dhaka about some recent incidents and the Hifazat violence in 2013.
