The High Court (HC) on Tuesday directed the Election Commissioner to register the Bangladesh Minority Janata Party (BMJP) as an official political party.
The HC bench of Justice Sashanka Shekhar Sarkar and Justice AKM Rabiul Hassan passed the order after hearing a petition.
Advocate Tajul Islam and Advocate Omar Faruk stood for the petitioner while Advocate Muntasir Mahmud represented the Election Commission.
Earlier, a writ petition was filed challenging the EC’s decision to not to register BMJP as a political party.
