HC declares Ashiyan City project illegal

UNB, Dhaka :
The High Court on Thursday declared Ashiyan City housing project situated in the capital’s Uttara area illegal.
A three-member High Court bench delivered the verdict following a writ petition filed by eight organizations challenging the legality of the project.
Court source said, the Ashiyan City housing project of Dakkhinkhan mouja of Uttara area was given approval without following due process.
Public Prosecutor Ekbal Karim Liton said the court declared the project illegal because the project was being implemented by filling waterbody illegally.
