Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Coordinator of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), has alleged that Sheikh Hasina is conspiring from India to kill the July revolutionaries.

“There are dark clouds looming over the skies of Bangladesh. Conspiracies are being hatched both at home and abroad against the country. No matter how much the ghosts of Awami League conspire from India and London, the chapter of Awami League is closed in Bangladesh. Awami League will never come back,” he said. Hasnat added, “There will be no election
before justice and reforms. Our struggle is for the rebuilding of Bangladesh.

First justice and reforms must be completed-only then can elections be held. We don’t want to be in a situation where an elected government may or may not ensure justice and reform. We want to go to elections only after Hasina’s trial and reforms are guaranteed. Therefore, we must stay alert so that no one becomes a barrier to the transition to democracy.”

He made these remarks on Wednesday night at a rally at Payera Square in Jhenaidah town, following an NCP march marking the anniversary of the July Uprising and a renewed call to rebuild the nation.

Hasnat said, “The terrorist of Central Asia is the butcher of Gujarat, Narendra Modi. And another terrorist, Hasina, is being given protection to destabilize Bangladesh. Hasina herself is a terrorist, and so is the Chhatra League.”

At the rally, NCP Convenor Nahid Islam, Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Nasir Uddin Patwari, Dr. Tasnim Zara, Sarjis Alam, and Joint Member Secretary from Jhenaidah Tarek Reza spoke. Also speaking were Hafiza Khatun, mother of martyred Rakib, and Amod Ali, father of martyred Sabbir.
Hasnat also alleged that journalists are not being paid properly: “Most journalists in the country are handed a boom mic and an ID card and told to go out into the field and fend for themselves.”
At the rally, NCP Convenor Nahid Islam said, “BSF is killing Bangladeshis like birds on the Jhenaidah and Chuadanga borders.”

He referred to the BSF as a murderous force and said, “They are committing crimes against humanity. We must stand up against them now.”

He further said, “We will not return home until reforms are achieved, Hasina and Awami League are brought to justice, a new constitution is written, and the July Charter is implemented, Insha’Allah.”
